Myself, Doopa, Military Messiah, Protoclown, and some other friends o' his all went to see Evanescence in D.C. last night. It was only a buck thanks to some friends of Proto's who lived there and were able to pick up the tix in person (plus a buck for "service charge"
) so I figured what the hell... easily the cheapest concert I've been to in ages.
Evanescence put on a damned good show. Whenever I hear some new music with a really good vocalist, I always worry that they only sound good cuz it's a studio recording. I worry that they'll sound like utter shit live. Well, that is NOT the case with Amy Lee. Goddamn, that girl can SING.
They were also really cool, staying around a half-hour after the show signing autographs 'n what not. A lot of people were trying to get shirts and photos signed so they could sell 'em on eBay. But not me... I walked right up to Amy and told her I didn't have a ticket or shirt for her to sign. I wanted her to sign something else instead:
