I believe brown bear are much smaller than grizzlie bears, and kodiak bears are bigger than grizzly bears. Also, grizzly bears have some kind of grey-ish fur coloration on their backs. I think kodiaks also live in different sorts of habitats than the other bears. I think thats how it works, Ms X will probably correct me if I'm wrong though. :/

Brown bears and grizzly bears are just two names for the same species, Ursus arctos. Kodiak bears (Ursus arctos middendorffi) are a subspecies of grizzly bears found only the islands of the Kodiak Archipelago of Alaska.
