The Frighteners! That was a good one. Bubba Ho-tep also deserves credit. House was s classic too, but avoid the sequel as it's TOO goofy. I'm surprised to see The People Under the Stairs on your list though. I remember that film as having forced symbolism and being quite dull. Of course I watched it when I was 10.

Dull? The People Under the Stairs is an awesome movie, totally unique and quite hilarious in parts. Watching Big Ed run around the house in a gimp suit with a shotgun while yelling "BURN IN HELL!" is the exact opposite of dull.

Someone remade 2001 Maniacs? Also, I did admit that I was 10 when I saw People Under the Stairs. I might have a different perspective as a 26-year-old.

Hatchet is one of those films I heard so many good things about, but upon watching it, I really just didn't like it at all. The humor in particular felt so forced. I know it was promoted as "old school horror", but it didn't feel like that at all. Protoclown tried watching it recently too and had the same reaction.

High 5

During my freshmen year at the high school, they had a halloween/social event for freshmen and the committee involved with the planning chose to show "house" in the auditorium. I laughed my tits off and apparently my laughter was annoying to others so I got kicked out in the middle of the movie.

I've always been a sucker for horror-comedy movies hence the list of my favorite horror flicks contained mostly horror-comedy movies. It's a great combo.

I think this movie was the spookiest cinematic experience i've ever went through. Awesome camera work. In the beginning when the camera moved back from the two corpse with the eerie sound, it gave me the chills.

As a huge fan of your site for many years(Since 2000!), I finally decided to get an account, just to get with the times and to lend a hand on this topic. Pretty much my favorites have been covered, except for these 5:

Blood Diner(RoG, you should totally cover this rare gem of a movie! It's hilarious! :D)
Sleepaway Camp 2: Unhappy Campers (The outhouse killing is excellent!)
Maniac (Crazy movie, but I love it!)
Dead Snow (Nazi Zombies? How can one go wrong? ;D)
The Dead Zone (Favorite Walken movie. Ever.)

Oh, and Arachnophobia, although a comedic movie, still manages to scare the holy hell out of me, since I'm deathly afraid of spiders. That one scene near the end where the queen jumps on the guy's face makes me almost take a #2 EVERY TIME.

I watched Kairo alone, in the dead of January, in a dark and empty house. I think I was also half asleep. That part where all of the ambient sound cuts out and then you hear the voice say "help me" scared the all-encompassing bejesus out of me. I came off the couch backwards and hit a bowl of cereal, so I came back down in a hail of soggy mini-wheats. It was quite the mess.

Kukuro, is Black House based on the novel of the same name? Also, I like the Silent Hill movie too.
