Old Sep 8th, 2006, 01:48 AM        Smooth, Sexy, Oil. Spilling all over.
The oil drum for a old furnace leaked. 20 Gallons of fun all over the basement. My head is hurting from the fumes.

It took us 250+ pounds of kitty litter to soak/clean it up. And 3 hours.

Pictures of the Cat Palace basement to come soon.

First of all, you need your basement to be heavily treated with a flame-retardant agent. Stuff like this is what sets houses up to be great big bonfires. I hope you dealt with the oil-soaked cat litter in an ecological way.

Second....cat litter? How was it economical to take care of the spill with over 250 lbs of kitty litter? It's weird.. but I hope it worked I guess. Did you have that much lying around or did you show up to Petco and say "ok, load 'em up"?

You have obviously never dealt with a big oil spill before. Kitty litter is about the cheapest and best stuff you can use.

Well, oil comes from the ground, and the dump is in the ground... so tossing it into the garbage counts as ecological in my books.

And I just saw the pictures. The guy taking them sucked. And he only took a couple. Dammit...

I'm dissapointd because from the title of this thread I thought it would be sexy.

okay, the idea of that much kitty litter in one place is kind of sexy. It's just not what I expected.

I guess it will do, though.

Any port in a storm.

If it were me, I'd have run the stuff through one of those filter-funnels and just pumped it back into the tank, rather then throwing expensive oil in the garbage. Stupid wastefull american.
