Old Dec 30th, 2003, 08:52 AM        Product placement in old games
I'm doing a thing about product placement in old NES/SNES/SMS/Genesis/etc. games, and just realized I don't know half as many as I thought I would. Any tips?

Well, I got a list somewhere but I lost it. It was only about four games anyway. The one I can remember the name of was Biker Mice From Mars (European version).

I guess you could mainly check alot of sports games and games based on popular shows/movies first, then move on to any others.

You asked for tips. :/

TMNT the arcade game (nes) had something to do with Pizza Hut if I remember correctly... that's all I can think of off the top of my head, but I will continue to brainstorm while at work.

The only ones I can think of were the blatant games related to the company's mascots, like that Noid game and the 7-Up one.

Sounds like a fun piece.

And it's not really an old game, but Super Monkey Ball is insanely blatant about advertising Dole bananas. I mean, it's really really blatant. I've been playing the game all week, and all I crave is bananas.

Actually, I haven't decided if it's an I-mock or an Obscura piece yet. If I can't find more obscure material it'll probably work best for this site.

But thanks to everyone for their help. Keep them coming.

For Mcdonald's, MC Kids and Ronald Mcdonald's Treasure hunt

and the two chester cheetah games.

I also remember a game based off that sketch-doug-like 7up guy (not spot) and a game based off a popular bubblegum brand./

sheez that's a lot of food

Diablo 2 (Ancient Game)

That Cow Level. It's trying to sell Beef in a Mad Cow world.

Honestly, something about walking cuts of steak going moo makes me hungry. Slaughtering them yourself is an added perk.
