Old Feb 25th, 2007, 01:36 AM        HDMI cables and Surge Protectors
So I'm finally getting a nifty plasma TV and I would like to know where I can buy some good quality HDMI cables and a solid surge protector (preferably one with a joule rating of 1000 or higher) at a good price. I know places like Circuit City and Best Buy rape people with their prices on stuff like this and wanted to know if you guys have any recommendations. The HDMI cables alone I often see selling for $100+ in stores. So yeah, gimme the scoop on some deals.

The one real good deal I found on HDMI cables was oddly enough from Apple. You can check it out here. Is this a good quality cable or should I go with something else?

Any help with the HDMI cables and/or surge protector would be greatly appreciated.

Thankee!

Actually, I prefer plasma over LCD by far. As long as you have the right components to protect it and you don't leave a DVD on pause for hours on end, you don't have to worry about picture getting burned into the plasma. Many newer models have built-in technology to help prevent this. As for video games, there's no problems with that at all as long as you get a good TV. The one I'm getting actually has a mode for video games so that they even display nicer.

Aside from the obvious color differences, with LCD's, ghosting/shadowing can get pretty bad. And of course there's always the potential for pixel burnout with 'em too.

As for the cables 'n surge, I think I'm gonna get 'em on Newegg. I found some real solid ones on there and the prices were good.
