Ok, heres the deal. I wanted to try the demo for portal and was thinking of buying crossover since I only have macs ( my dad refuses to buy anything else). I downloaded crossover, downloaded steam, and downloaded the portal demo off of steam. So after it downloads I hit "Launch"
So I see the valve logo and get all excited and crap, then it goes to a loading screen. I wait for 30 minutes and it still hasnt loaded...anyone have any suggestions?

Maybe your PC's crap. Your best bet is to ask, you know, Steam. I mean, they have a support page and a forum right there.

If the game freezes at the title screen's loading thing, it's probably your graphic card. Portal is pretty graphics intensive with the lighting and the the portal graphics engine. Otherwise, I took 3 whole seconds of my time to google "Portal loading issues" and found another possible problem:

well if it was pc i'd say to check and see if whatever firewall program you've got running has a "game mode" where it automatically denies or accepts program requests for access, because mine was freezing up when it tried to access the internet and zonealarm blocked it pending my OK- but since i couldn't see the zonealarm popup, i couldn't give it the ok so it just would hang

NEVA, I decided that I should be trying this on the computer upstairs where my dad actually buys parts for the computer upstairs.

Im just going to play half-life 2 for now.
