Well, being a guitar enthusiast I can tell different playing styles. No 2 players sound the same and Mustaine in particular has a very unique style that few cam emulate. He has more of a "train' sound if you will. Hammett was taught by Satriani and has a more classical style which shows in his solos. Listen to the solos on Kill em All (which is Mustaine even thogh Hammett is in the book) and then the ones on RTL or MOP and the difference is night and day. Mustaine says himself that he wrote it and the obvius reference woud be 4 horsmen/Mechanix. Ron McGovney, bass player on Kill Em All, NOt Burton backs him up on this. Fleming Rasmussen also states that Lars didn't possess the talent and still doesn't, and Hetfield is more int Classic rock and Traditional metal ala Priest Maiden. Also the quality of albums by them steadily drops off one after the other.
