I had a big rant about this until I realized you were talking about a different game.
There's this MMO called Dark Age of Camelot, which has amazing graphics, due to the fact that they've scrapped 2 graphics engines in the long time it's been out. In fact, the biggest graphics complaint I have with the game is unless you have a brand new video card, 2GB RAM, and a hoss processor, you have to turn every setting to minimal or log in with a client using one of the old graphics engines.
It's PvP, IMO, has the best endgame of any MMO I've played (the mid-level battlegrounds aren't bad either, but sadly aren't populated til about level 20, which can be a tough level to achieve not knowing anything about the game or having any help). PvP is based on picking one of three homeland factions when you start. Each faction has different races and classes to pick from, and a PvP-safe homeland to start in. After running through a series of tutorial quests you can jump right into a (absolutely desolate - due to how easy it is to get to about level 20) lowbie battleground. The battlegrounds will prepare you for the endgame, which is a frontier of three continents with a connecting island. Each continent has several keeps which you fight with the other realms for control, and relics that you can capture to give your entire realm a bonus.
As for cost, if you go to ebgames.com you can get the base game with the first three non-free expansions and the two free ones in a box for 20 bux. The monthly rate on it is 15 bucks like any other MMO if you don't pay for multiple months at a time, but it's old enough that there are some free euro servers (running a few patches out of date, but who cares) if you know where to look.
I've played WoW, Dark Age of Camelot, Anarchy Online (free version only - tho I'm considering upgrading to a paying account just to check it out), Guild Wars, and Ragnarok (for a week - lol), and honestly, DAoC has had the best PvP of any of MMO I've played.
