Any Blues fans out there?

I just heard this cool album that my dad got. It's called "Delta Hurricane" by Larry McCray. It's an older album (1999-2000) but it got me interested in the blues.

Any particular songs you guys like?

Try any album by Susan Tedeshi. She sounds like a cross between Janis Joplin and Bonnie Raitt with a little bit of Billie Holliday thrown in at times ... and she can wail on that thar geetar!

I've heard of her.

Have you heard of Norah Jones? She has a great voice.

The name sounds familiar but I can't place the voice/music. here are some winners from "W.C. Handy Awards Show" of 2002 put on by the the Blues Foundation. Maybe it will give you some ideas. I personally own Buddy Guy's "Sweat Tea" album and it's excellent ... kind of like grunge meets ZZ Topp meets Buddy Guy. I think it also won a Grammy for 2002 also:

Umm ... What are four sources for most of George Thourogood's albums? I'll take "Blues" for $400, Alex.

You're right, though, Sspad. Anyone who's serious about listening to the blues should start at the source with these guys. The only problem is that the farther you go back, the slimmer the pickin's get. I'd be willing to bet that the recorded work that you're able to hear from these guys probably represents only a fraction of what they actually wrote and performed.

Actually, Hooker put out a shitload of albums, and you can find most of 'em in any decent record store. I got a Robert Johnson box set about 10 years ago, and Willie Dixon stuff isn't hard to find. You're right, though. I'll bet there's still a ton of stuff that never made it to tape.

Oh, I forgot Muddy Waters.
