Old Sep 15th, 2006, 02:19 PM        NEW HORROR MOVIE MOMENT: "HELLRAISER III!"
The best of the Hellraiser movies is finally out on DVD, and while it's not the unrated version I was hoping for, it's still got plenty of memorable scenes in it. Here's my favorite...

NEW GREATEST HORROR MOVIE MOMENT: "HELLRAISER III: HELL ON EARTH!"

Enjoy!

I've never seen a Hellraiser movie, but I think I'll check out this one.

The first one is worth checking out just to understand what Pinhead and the cenobites are all about 'n what not, but there is some bad acting and it can be slow at times.

Hellraiser III is everything I ever wanted out of a Hellraiser movie, and it's unfortunately the only one that's worth rewatching time after time.

Yeah, I just looked it up, and the concept sounds pretty interesting. I had always assumed that it was the same as that godawful Wishmaster series.

Hellraiser was actually pretty good. The newer one (of which I cannot remember the name of or what installment int he series it is) is more of a psychological thriller. Not bad, but not what I'm looking for when I want to see a Hellraiser movie. I love the first few though! The third one is definitely more action so in essence it rocks.
The first Wishmaster was awesome. :P NYEH.
Excellent job Mr Mockery!

I've not seen it. Why didn't you include the ripping sound mp3?

Frankly, I thought the third movie was kinda lame. It has its moments, but this was the part when they started using horrible cgi gore effects. And the cenobites were dumb. A cenobite throwing deadly CDs? A cenobite with a videocamera for a head saying "thats a wrap." after killing someone? Ugh.

The first and the second Hellraiser movies are both pretty good. They changed the plotline to these "am I hallucinating or what?" thrillers in Hellraiser 5, and despite the bad acting, I kinda like HR 5 and 6.

The most recent ones aren't even worth watching. Even Lance Henriksen couldn't save Hellraiser 8.

Actually, there was plenty of non-cgi stuff in it too, and in general, it was all pretty goddamned hilarious. I loved all the one-liners. Everything you just described is basically what made me like it more than the others. A cenobite who spits out CDs? That's fucking classic horror-comedy right there.

Hellraiser 5 is actually my favorite movie in the series even though the cenobites get very little screen time in it, I like how the ending made it feel like a Silent Hill inspired version of Groundhog's day. Also I never really liked the third Hellraiser either, it always felt like they were trying to turn Pinhead into Freddy Krueger.

Yes, there were some traditional effects, which were well done as usual, but the cgi moments were so painfully bad that I don't even remember the good stuff from that film very well.

Come on, the cgi moment where pinhead turns his head into an icicle and stabs that girl in the mouth was hysterical.
