Just got back. Damned good movie. I can't wait for the box set with both films to come out... it's gonna be great to watch them back to back.

That was a fun movie. Pei Mei was my favorite character in the show. And the fight scene with Elle will leave you laughing.

Can't go, no money.

Maybe I could hit an old lady and take her money, and her tartar sauce.

Wow... I'm glad i saw both of them around the same time or i wouldn't really be able to appreciate it.

If you haven't seen it watch the credits there the best in any movie...

Don't read ahead if you haven't seen the 2nd one yet, cuz i guess i'd accidentally spoil stuff...

There is no way they split the movies because of the gore. Three people died in the 2nd volume none of which in a bloody fashion like the crazy 88's.

The two movies were very polarized, one had tons of action little story and the other had tons story and less gory action. I saw a ton of symbolism in the movie, including how you can't judge one movie to the other with elle asking budd about the two hanzo swords. I really want to buy the second dvd now, just so i can sit at home and watch the whole thing through.

I loved the buried alive sequence when she is in the coffin with the black and white, filtered, shot. You can feel the panic and the extreme fear of being buried alive, eventhough you're sitting next to people you can feel the

It took me a while to get the exact motif of the movie, it was right around the training sequence with pai mai that i got it.

The fights were really concentrated, The only one that was sort of drawn out was with elle. I really wanted to see a long and artisitic fight with bill, but instead it consisted of about 8 lightning fast actions and 20 minutes of dialouge after .

I really found the movie hilarious at times, with the bb watch "Shogun Assasins" with the bride, Elle getting her eye pulled out, the school roll call and the five finger heart explosion technique. The credits were the funniest ever, in any movie.

The only problem i had was that the whole first movie antagonized bill, but it was completely switched around in the 2nd from the first scene where the bride is talking to bill. Bill did nothing perticularly evil, after the el paso masacre, to make you feel like he was deserving of the revenge that he was going to get. He even seemed to be justified at the end where he's explaining his action. In the end you actually didn't want bill to die but he did anyways.

All in all it was a terrific movie, the two movies balance action and story out perfectly. It takes a while to understand the directing and the incredible genius in the story. If i had any money left i'd buy the soundtrack to it too but i'm basically broke now...

Pai mai Is the best character ever

I will only say one word, but i will make it, big, predictable, and a pretty yellow color to sum up this entire movie.

Yeah, it ruled. If you stay through the credits you get to see a secret BEHIND-THE-SCENES shot of a scene from the trailer fight.

Vol. 2 was a much better film than Vol. 1, even though they are both excellent. I just loved all the different styles Tarantino brought to Vol. 2 instead of the more singular focus of Vol. 1. Vol. 1 was about Oren, not the Bride, and finally we get a movie about the Bride and Bill, this is what I wanted to see. Also, the dialouge was up to the same hilarious level of Pulp Fiction, even if some of it felt a tad forced. I have to see it again, and I need to see it back-to-back to fully measure it up. They were very different though, so I can see how it was right to splice it up.

The part when Uma is in the bathroom, look at the shot as the camera pulls out, down the hallway, into the mainroom, flying uptoward the rafters, to follow Sofie (O-Ren's assistant) and then continue back through the hallway and into the bathroom is freaking amazing. That is one continous shot, and only through tricky work with the crew, a ceiling guide arm, and some nifty sets and electronic works does that thing work.
michel gondry does that in his sleep.

Isn't it for the "trix are for kids" line in vol. 1?

thats the only link i saw to it... i thought revealing the name might let that line make more sense instead of letting it remain something just badly written, but there isnt much there except it being mildly clever.

*shrug*

i think the name-bleep is just one of those things tarantino liked from his movies.

I thought it was just for her to remain mysterious until volume 2 came out. I know he did it for kicks, but i think The Bride is a pretty cool name for a heroine. Not that Beatrix Kiddo isn't (that's really an awesome name, too) but The Bride gives her a superhero kinda vibe.

i assumed the bleeping of the name thing was a tribute to movies where the main characters name is never revealed. (like the good the bad and the ugly....i think)

im going to see it on friday, one of my flatmates says the first part 'was crap', so i wonder if he will bother going...

anecdote: on the way to the cinema to see vol: 1, i fell and badly sprained my ankle going down a precarious hill, not like that stopped me going to see it or anything. (imagine what it was like when uma therman commands the audience to 'wiggle your big toe')

I think the part about bleeping out her name had something to do with the superhero speech that Bill gives at the end.

I'm probably wrong though.
