Old Sep 5th, 2006, 06:32 PM        Need help from the geeks at i-mockery.
I am looking into a new laptop and have about 1,300 dollars to spend, i was wondering if anybody had any suggestions on where i could get the slickest machine to fit my budget.

I am considering the Area-51 M5550 with a few upgrades that put it about 1,250 and i wonder what y'all nerds think.

And wether you would recommend the extra monies to go for the 80 gig 7200 rpm hard drive versus the 5400 rpm one.

Gateway's CX2620 Tablet PC is fucking great. We haven't had a single problem with it and the swivel screen that you can write on is niiiiiiiiice. I think CC still sells it on their site. If you get it, or any other laptop for that matter, just make sure you remove all the shit that any major computer brand like Gateway installs on their computers (ie: shit like various AOL programs and any other "trial" junk that you surely don't need).

Hrm, I can't help ya there, but customer reviews on computers.com and even newegg.com can be real helpful when it comes to deciding on a new laptop.
