Old Oct 27th, 2003, 10:52 PM        ANTI-Recommendation: Evolution, by Stephen Baxter
I have made this topic to warn you away from the worst book I've read in a long time: Evolution, by Stephen Baxter.

Why is it so bad? Several reasons:

1) It attempts to be a treatise on evolutionary theory, as well as a mind-blowing SF novel... and fails miserably at both: too silly to be a treatise, too dry to be a novel.

2) The guy's writing style sucks. His dialogue never once sounds real... and that's when the book actually HAS dialogue.

3) The last chapter is the most depressing piece of shit I've ever read.

In conclusion, do not TOUCH this book. Tell others not to touch it. Go to Barnes and Noble wearing a big sign, if you have to! Don't buy my copy from me on E-Bay!
