What kind do you have?

I got a Jackson Pro Dinky Reverse, it's exactly like Dave Mustaine's but it's metallic blue. Damn you, Musician's Friend, for not having this sumbitch in black!

78 Fender P-Bass. It weighs a ton and prettier than Oprah.
A friend of mine stripped his guitar down to four strings and tunes it to a open G9. What a mess, somehow he makes it work.

I've got a Fender Strat, but I don't know what year it is. Plays pretty nice, though.

Also, and this is my baby, I've got an Ibanez Soundgear custom-made 5-string bass. It's got a neckthru body, super fast neck, and that fucker can take a beating.

lol my Jackson only has 5 strings too. I was too lazy to replace it (and this was back in 1997) so I more or less learned how to play guitar without a high E string. It certainly makes solos fun to play :/

I wish mine still looked as nice as it did in the Musician's Friend Listings.

I've been playing it so long and practicing like mad for the past few years that I've had to jerry-rig that thing several times (but at least it still works)

OK, guitar players... easiest and hardest song you've ever learned?

Easiest: Either anything by Nirvana (no shit) or Corrosion of Conformity

Hardest (so far): "Revolution Is My Name" by Pantera (that first part is fucking HARD to do by ear)

Easiest: I Want To Be Sedated. It has three chords, and none of them are even bar chords.

Hardest: I don't learn hard songs because I suck.

Easiest is hard to say. Too many to list. There are a million three-chord songs out there.

Hardest.... I used to be able to play some of the solos off Rust in Peace clean and strong. That's some pretty challenging stuff. Jazz is very difficult. I never had the patience for that shit. You have to be a hand contortionist, or have Andre the Giant hands to do some of that.

Easiest song: "Earth A.D." by the Misfits.
Hardest song: "Natural Law" by Loranhein (that fucker doesn't stop MOVING).

Easiest solo: "The Exorcist" by Cannibal Corpse (originally by Possessed). It took me exactly one listen to get.
Hardest solo: "10 In 2010" by Bad Religion. In the span of about 20 seconds, he hits like 250 notes.

I have a brand new Gibson Les Paul. I love every fucking thing about it. Currently strung to an open C# (My Dying Bride, and my bands' likeness to them, being the reason) and it's got a devastating sound.

Easiest: Paranoid? Uh, I dunno many covers. Maybe 'The Doorway' by Neurosis. Easy as fuck, but what a great song.

Most difficult: Either the whole of Pleasant Shade of Gray by Fates Waning, or the first part of 'Instruments of Random murder' (up to the zany solo, heh) by Watchtower.

Please tell me that you've changed your guitar strings sometime between 1997 and now. :/

A black BC Rich Warlock (cheap version) and a broken DanElectro amp.
I'll need some cash for an upgrade, but I have an idea for a custom (maybe ESP). They're Japanese, right?

God Damn Paul, you think you could cut and paste War and Peace for your next signature.
I also have an upright bass, baritone ukulele, Ibanez Soundgear bass (picolo setup), banjo, banjuke, lapsteel, autoharp, melodica...oh yeah an old Ovation solid body electric (I think they called it a viper?) and some other odds and ends.
If you could put music in a crack pipe, I'd smoke it.

Of course I have, but there was no reason to until 1999 (read: My surviving strings were very much intact and have absorbed a LOT of punishment) I have actually changed the strings three times since then, and I still have no high e. I learned how to play without it, and it just feels awkward to play my own guitar with it. Playing someone else's of course is not a problem, but it's like driving a car for years and then getting a new one. You can still do it, and well, but it still FEELS different. Hence the reason why I can no longer play my guitar if it had a high e, but I can play others no problem. Does that make any sense?

Sure. Feel is everything in a guitar. It can't sound or look good if you're uncomfortable.

Playing metal without an E string. Seems like a bad deal to me.

I can't give you too much grief since I can only play four strings at a time. The ukulele (baritone) taught me about the first four EBGD and the bass taught me the other four GDAE (recognizing the common G and D strings). When I play guitar, I stick to the bottom four or the top four, rarely all six at once. Then again, I never was crazy about guitars. Too many damn strings.
Does anyone here have one of those whack-job seven string guitars?
