How far away from dog shit would a £1 coin (or equivalent US currency) need to be for you to pick it up?

I'd say... 4-5 inches minimum. Two feet if I'm walking past a traffic jam. Four feet if I'm walking past a bus.

These really are the questions that can keep a man up at night.

Well nowadays I'd walk right past it, but back before I was making any money I'd have been on it pretty damn fast, dogshit or no dogshit. It wasn't easy being a struggling young dancer in NYC.

Hmm. I'm not really sure. I don't think I'd know until I saw a series of pictures with the money at varying distances. Its more like a visceral instinct than a reasoned response, really.

I've got a few. One of the few perks of being a cashier is finding unusual coins. I found a 19th century buffalo nickel and a mercury dime once, not to mention foreign coinage.

I would probably be more suspicious as to what the money is doing near the shit in the first place. Was somebody walking thier dog and felt guilty about not cleaning it up so they put money on it?

Honestly, money in general has more germs on it than any other item, so I'd pick it up even if it was partially in the poo. Of course, I'd wipe it off before I put it in my pocket (the coin, not the poo).

This is simple. In the event of a one dollar coin, I'd pick it up and stick it in the poo where just enough of it is showing to show that it's money. If it is a bill, I would also pick it up; then I'd place it over the poo so that it covers the feces entirely and sticks to it.

I posed for nude photos in '79 for 500$ because I really needed the cash. I wish I hadn't now that the pictures have come out all over the place. I guess I'll just tell the media that I'm not ashamed.
