For Your Consideration Guest's next
Posted on Wed, 16-Feb-2005

New York Metro says that filmmaker Christopher Guest's ["A Mighty Wind", "Best in Show"] next movie - or 'mockumentary', whatever you wish to label - will be based on the annual high-stakes scramble for Oscar nominations.

No idea if the usual cast will rejoin the talented writer-director - it's likely though - but I do wish I'd pestered Harry Shearer for info on it when we shared a plane to the states recently, no doubt he'll be onboard.

"For Your Consideration", as the paper states, will no doubt be a personal dig for Guest, being knocked back time and time again by Oscar.

Meantime, you'll be able to catch Guest in Stephen Frears' next film "Mr.Henderson Presents", about a theatre hall that gets a rep for its all-nude revues.

This is either going to be really funny, or self-indulgent and bitter. I hope it's the former.

I like the Christopher Guests formula, but I kind of hope he attempts some new techniques this time around. He might lose some of his loyal fan base if he doesn't.
