Then they will probably all melt and the guy who collected them will no doubt kill himself because his vast collection of games and consoles which he has spent years collecting has been destroyed.

It sad but I can't see how he would ever leave it. With me, I figure after playing video games for 40 or 50 hours in there, I might just say to hell with the outside world and stay where there's always a Continue and a Princess in the next castle.

I'd probably say everything in that room probably cost a good $50,000-$75,000. It all depends on when he got the games, as a number of them could be used or from clearance.

But at $50 a game on average, with thousands of games, it's gotta be up there, regardless of how many he got cheap.

Were you by chance playing SMB Deluxe, because back in the DAY there were no "Saves" or "Continues." Those are for pussies.

i noticed the TV too. Kinda chintsy. Looks like he's been at it for a long time, too. Check out the stacks of old-school PSX game cases.

Well... It seems SOMEONE takes SMB a bit personally but eh... lol. Anyways, I wasn't directly refering to SMB with that statement but more of a generalized Video-Game overview but... Yeah ok.

The real question is how many of those games are worth owning?

Color Dreams. Yeah, I totally marked when I saw those too. Most of them are terrible, but I've played them so many times and interviewed so many of the programmers that the sweet little renegades will always have a special place in my heart.

And I think James' estimate probably is in the right neighborhood. A lot of those can be bought dirt cheap, but there has to be a boatload of rares in there.

EDIT: I did a quick count, there's AT LEAST 800 NES games there. There might be some duplicates, but isn't that just about the number of games that were created for the system?

probably a lot more. Let's see what mobygames says.

http://www.mobygames.com/browse/games/nes/list-games/

hmm, less, so I guess mobygames doesn't have EVERY NES game catalogued, so it's of no use to us.

And to what boogie said, yeah, probably very few of all of them. But if that guy has kids (UNLIKELY HAHA AM I RIGHT GUYS) then exploring that room, figuring out which games are good on your own for the first time would be awesome.
