huond and rongi, you should at least respect the man because he's a dead president, otherwise you're just another reason why America is going down the shitter.
Terribly smart comment! I agree completely! :thumbsup

Have some respect people!

I was looking at some pictures in my grandparents house on easter. And i noticed that there is a picture of my grandpa shaking hands with Regan and i actually found out that they had been good friends when he was a senator.

So his death is going to effect our family

So by that logic, I'm not allowed to hate Bush after he dies?

SACRED?!? The hell... Was I too young in the 80's to hear about him walking on water and saving the world from evil??

It may be in poor taste, but my immediate reaction to the article was "wow, that makes him out to look like a saint".

But he was no saint - he was a human being. One who made some mistakes, and, sure, he did some good things too.

I was too little to understand politics when Reagan was in office, but that should hardly change my opinion based on what I've learned since then. If that were the case, no one could be qualified to talk about things that happened before they were born. Not only is that absurd, but it would put so many history professors and writers out of work.

People're always going to make a person look like a saint after they die. No one deserves to be thrown out, especially someone that played such an integral part in so many people's lives.

I'm too young to know too much about him and I'm really not inclined to start looking now, but just because he was out president and represented us and impacted so many lives (for better or for worse), he should be remembered as a great man.

I don't particularly like him, but I would hope that he'd be remembered as a great person when he died, whether he is or not. I'm sure there are some people out there that love and respect him as a person AND as a President and it'd be unfair to portray him as a villain to coming generations.

It's sacrificing honesty for common decency, as far as I'm concerned. :/

Uh, why? By that logic, Stalin and Hitler should be remembered by their countries as great men.

But from what I've seen, Bush isn't as completely evil as the other two were. I'm not saying that I'm educated enough on Bush to make this assumption but if I were going by what I know right now, he hasn't done what Hitler did.

I'm just not educated enough and I'll admit that, but for the sake of the uneducated we should portray these people as great. Everyone knows Hitler's story, not everyone knows what Bush has done yet. They will, but they haven't yet.

You know what? You're right. Reagan was a horrible person and he did nothing but evil in this country, especially after his term. It's a shame the Alzheimers didn't crawl out of his brain and kick him in the nuts first.

he doesn't post there because it sucks.

butttt i'd still have to agree with chojin on this. accepting someone as 'great' and deserving of respect simply because of the position they once held and the fact they are deceased is kinda silly... even moreso if you actually despised their policies/actions while they were amongst the living. haha just kidding i agree with him because hes more on top and vets stick together[/quote]

I understand the opinion and I respect it, it's just not mine. And I'm not saying I WANT him to be shown as a saint, I would just rather him be a saint than a Hitler.
