Old Mar 10th, 2006, 02:40 PM        Meet South Dakota State Senator Bil Napoli
Here he is on Newshour with Jim Leher explaining how a Rape victim might be allowed to use the exception for saving the life of the mother to get an abortion, under South Dakotas new laws. As God is my witness, this is the quote and for me it puts him in the same league as Rick "Man on Dog" Santorum.

"A real-life description to me would be a rape victim, brutally raped, savaged. The girl was a virgin. She was religious. She planned on saving her virginity until she was married. She was brutalized and raped, sodomized as bad as you can possibly make it, and is impregnated. I mean, that girl, could be so messed up, physically and psychologically, that carrying that child could very well threaten her life."

I know there's a very long thread about SD and abortion, I was more interested in the sort of guy that says something like this when he's aware he' on TV and a tape is rolling.

Did this particular line make it into the thread?

'Cause you know for me it's ALL about the language. Don't you frowny emoticon me, Bitch.

It could've been in that thread.

He sounds like a character, but ultimately it won't matter. This legislation is never going to happen. It's intended for the Supreme Court, not the women of South Dakota.

I know. This thread is just about what that guy said, how he said it, and what it reveals about a certain mindset.

really because to me it sounded like your idea of a good time

so what is he saying that only a virgin can be raped and once they're punched through they'll just bend over for anyone? raped and sodomized for it to be a traumatic experience? and she has to believe in christ?

why don't these religious fucknuts realize that by making laws against their sins they remove the ability to sin and thus will end up spending eternity in the lord's house with LIBERAL WHORES

gimme a break i've got a 103 fever

And to all you non-virgin, non-religious rape victims...

The gig is up, we're on to you.

We need less discussion about rape, and more linguistic critique!!

holy shit you can almost hear that guy's stubby and unappetizing boner rustle the pleats of his brooks brothers suit pants

Quote:
“I guess I struck a nerve,” Napoli said Wednesday afternoon. “I’ve heard from people in Oregon, Wisconsin, New Jersey and lots of crazy people in California.”

[...]

Napoli said Wednesday that many people had mistakenly come to the conclusion that he thinks such abortions would be available “only” to “religious virgins” in those exact circumstances. “I never said ‘only,’” Napoli said. “The quote was correct, but — typical media — they took the most outrageous thing I said.”

But Napoli added, “I’m not backing down.”

He said he believes that, under the new law, a doctor could perform an abortion if the rape was so traumatic that the pregnancy could result in the death of the mother — whether by suicide or as some other result of emotional trauma.

“Sometimes, people are so traumatized they stop eating,” Napoli said.

But Napoli also acknowledged that after such an abortion, a doctor could be prosecuted if authorities determined the diagnosis was wrong. “That could happen in any situation,” he said.

Derida; I don't know you well, but the sentence

"you can almost hear that guy's stubby and unappetizing boner rustle the pleats of his brooks brothers suit pants"

Has valuted you into the category of posters I will automatically read. That was brilliant! Particularly 'stubby and unappetizing'. THAT's a turn of phrase, ladies and gentleman.

You never have anyway of telling if they actually would of killed themselves or not.
