As some of you know, I run a webpage for the actor
Eddie Kaye Thomas, who played Finch aka Shitbreak aka the Guy that Got Laid with Stifler's mother in the
American Pie films.
So in order to keep in touch with the fans, I interact with them at the
piemovie3.com. At the boards, the ever earnest webmaster Nick decided to ask people to ask questions for the upcoming DVD.
If you've seen the second film, you know there's a scene involving lesbians that I personally think does nothing other than titillate. So I decided to see if I could ask what the point was, and what do I get? "Who Cares! It's funny! That's all that matters!" I'm not the kind of person who buys that kind of thing unless it has a point. So someone says I take the movies way too seriously, and that it's supposed to be from a teenage boy's POV, and "what teenage boy doesn't enjoy seeing lesbians??!!!" Personally, I enjoy these films, but let's be real: it's a
PRODUCT!
So I'd like a second opinion. Is it okay for me to apply standards to teen comedies?
My original statement on the scene. (Scroll up further to see the original question)
Do I raise any good points? Or am I taking things too seriously?
