This is actually the first Texas Chainsaw Massacre movie I ever saw. It caused me to avoid the franchise as a whole for almost ten years, before I saw some clips from the original that convinced me they weren't all like this.

Seriously, even the lousy remake is better than this.

Good to see McConaughey getting the roast he deserves. To his credit, both he and Bridget Jones deny this film even exists. That is a sound idea.

GOD, but I love me some I-Mockery horror film animated gifs! They make anything sweet. (The old-guy-walking-away one is a thing of beauty).

Er...what? What is this mess? Dr. Boogie, does this film really exist? The whole thing sounds SO random, even I couldnīt make something like that in good concience and I LOVE random bullcrap normally. I...I gotta see this movie I think.

Oh, and what the heck is Leatherface DOING in the very last picture? Is he dancing with his chainsaw? Just like that on the road?

The best thing would really be the old man that takes his knife, looks at the table with his "screw this, Iīm getting the hell outta this movie!"-look and...well, leaves to stab an unknown boar someplace else :D Awesome.

Y'know, I'm like 50% sure that guy getting up and leaving wasn't even in the script. He just got fed up with the dialog and decided to walk out and they left the camera running.

The knife is because he's off to see his agent, who signed him up for this crapfest.

Maybe its just because its been a while since I saw this movie, but I've never gotten the idea that anything that happens in it is unintentional at all. I always assumed the producers set out to make a horror comedy not just a straight horror that got screwed up somewhere along the way. Frankly, I think this is one of the most amusing installments of the series, and I have always really liked it. And before someone gets upset, I have seen all of the TCM movies and am a huge horror fan. I also have a strange sense of humor so maybe that's why I got this movie and apparently nobody else did...

How... Does someone watch this? Unless this is the one with the dual-chainsaw duel at the end. That was bad ass.

I'm pretty sure the cross dressing Leatherface was a horribly executed nod to Ed Gein - one of the inspirations for the character. Also, Silence of the Lambs was released just before this turkey and Buffalo Bill upped the creepiness factor of the fetish for awhile.

Considering the vast ocean of DVD copies of this movie at Big-Lots, I guess I'll have to pick this up and give it a watch. I mean, it can't be worse Manos: The Hands Of Fate.

After the limo drives off, he winds up with his chainsaw, and I swear I thought he was going to chop his own head off, the movie is that dumb. But no, he just starts spinning around screaming.

But that's just it: it's funny because it's stupid. The movie wasn't billed as a horror comedy; it just turned out that way because the stuff they wanted to be scary was just stupid. And it wasn't done in a way that makes you think it was meant to be that way, either.

I sat down and watched this turd with some friends one drunken night. We decided it would be much better if you took out the entire soundtrack and replaced it with yelling and chainsaw sounds. Just yelling and chainsaw sounds. No dialogue necessary. Best scene: F-O-O-D... DOO-DOO-DOO!

That scene is actually from the third TCM movie; the one that came just before this one.

But see, I don't know about that. I really honestly think it was supposed to be a horror comedy. Look at the poster art, the chainsaw is held as though its a tube of lipstick, and the quote for the poster says something about it having campy humor. And IMDB.com lists it as a horror comedy...

I just don't see how anyone could watch Leatherface in drag and not think that it wasn't done for laughs. You just don't put someone in ridiculous drag and expect it to be anything but funny. I stand by my original statement that this was entirely intentional. Sure its not well made or acted or directed or anything, so I can see how someone would think that it wasn't intentional humor, but the simple fact of the matter is that the script called for all these ridiculous things to happen! I highly doubt that the wardrobe person just made a mistake on Leatherface's costumes and gave him campy drag and the director just decided to go with it, that kind of thing was planned out well in advance and therefore points to an intentional comedy angle.

But eitherway, intentional or not, the fact remains that it is REALLY funny and if you're laughing at it or laughing with it, its still worth a watch.

There is another version of this movie called The Return Of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre that apparently has completely different scenes in it but what I read the main difference is that there's lots of green lighting instead of blue. I remember when this came out finally on HBO, I fucking hated this damn movie and gave up on defending the original (and the awesome part 2) for awhile until it was forgotten and ruined again with the 3rd remake, the big Jerry Bruckheimer one. Lets concentrate all our mental powers on exploding the brains of studio execs who want to do horror but don't even know the first thing about making an original film, like the morons doing the Nightmare on Elm Street remake. Rob Zombie gets big budgets while Jim Van Bebber works at Wendys, fuck America.

I've never seen the allure of this series. It always came off as so hokey compared to other horror movies of that era (and a little later) like Maniac. But I've always been more of a Hellraiser guy, I prefer Pinhead to Freddy, Jason Michael, and Leatherface. To each his/her own, I guess.

And yes, the later TCM movies are strange, but not as strange as the later Child's Play/Chucky movies...

I absolutely LOVED this film. And I agree with some of the others, this film is an intentional comedy. It's actually my favorite TCM sequel. Let's face it, the original was great but the series REALLY went down hill from there. In this installment somebody just said, "fuck it, this is gonna be shit anyway, let's make it some crazy, stoner WTF shit so at least it'll be good for a laugh".

Oooh, that's right. Strangely enough, that scene is the only part I really remember form the third. The original was "kids in van get totally screwed," the second was the one with Dennis Hopper, the fourth was this massive clusterf@ck, but WTF happened in the third?

It sounds like they tried to make Leatherface true to his muse, Ed Gein, with the whole dressing in women's skin thing. Too bad it didn't make him the least bit terrifying.

This film is beyond brilliant.

It's hilarious. And weird. You know Vilmer has a remote control robotic leg? And a wall full of keys. OF KEYS!

I think I watched this movie drunk every day for half a year.
