I don't like this

Earthworm Jim 3D was absolute trash, I think it's my most hated game of all time. I can't help but imagine that Interplay will attempt to tap into the market of wacky and zany and ca-razy 12-16 year olds. Which I guess was primarily what the game was all about anyway, outrageous humor. I'm just worried they'll get lazy.

Also, WHAT? A feature film?

God, Ewj 3D or 64 or whatever it's called was beyond bad. It was nigh unplayable. Wasted a good 5 or 6 bucks renting it and gave up fighting the camera and controls. What they need to do is sit down with Earthworm Jim 2 for some quality time.

i'm so excited about this i've been a huge fan of earthwormjim since the beginning i've got all the games and videos.
(although i do agree earthwormjim 3-d is an atrocity)I have faith that they can make a true and worthy sequel to earthormjim 2

Is it the year of the fucking comeback? Why are developers dredging up relics like Splatterhouse, Bionic Commando, Golden Axe, and now Earthworm Jim? Even Street Fighter IV, for which I'm keeping my expectations as low as possible, is a sequel to SFII (released in 1991). Hell, SFIII was first released over 10 years ago. Nostalgia is poor motivation; I'm still scraping the back of my eyeballs for Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of Crystal Skull residue. And nostalgia certainly isn't a suitable replacement for innovation or creativity. I hope these games, for the sake of the series whose namesake they bear, turn out good enough to at least relaunch them for a new generation. I'd be more than happy to play the tried and true originals on virtual console or a pc emulator.

I just know the new Splatterhouse will be a cheap rip-off of Silent Hill.

They've been doing remakes of games for years, with mixed results. This is just the latest installment.

I'm actually looking forward to the XBLA remake of Bionic Commando more than the 360 remake.

Honestly, I think its about time he made a return, but i don't know about starting immediately on 3-D..thats a huge step. it could seriously kill them if they are unprepared.

I'm well aware they've been making remakes for years, Doc. This year just seems to have a disproportionate number of them, especially franchises that have really been laid to rest for over a decade. It was actually the cover story for EGM last month.

Bah, EGM. They're giving their magazine away for free, that's how much people want it.

To some degree, I enjoy remakes. the GBA/DS has had a lot of fun 2D remakes, like Double Dragon.

The River City Ransom remake was certainly welcome. It's the franchise reboots moreso than the remakes that worry me. A lot of classic franchises (lookin' at you, Sonic) have gotten lost in translation from 2D to 3D.

I agree. I enjoyed the 3D Castlevanias (the PS2 ones) a good deal, but I still prefer the Metroid-vania ones that keep appearing on the DS.

Earthworm Jim, though, he should really stay two dimensional.

Honestly, after playing Symphony of the Night I can never enjoy another Castlevania game.

Symphony of the Night may just have been the pinnacle of gaming. Okay, slightly hyperbolic statement, but that game fucking rocked.
