Max is back with his latest installment of the Hey Dork series... this one is part 2 of a 2-part piece. It's a long read (and was a bitch to edit - damn you Burbank!) and enjoyable as hell. You just can't go wrong with a piece that uses the word "jiggly" and mocks continuity problems. Good times.

"HEY DORK! LET'S TALK COMICS!
THE LEGION LOVED AND LOST- PART II: JIGGLY CHICKS AND SCREWING CONTINUITY"

Enjoy!

good stuff as always, but these always depress me cos I have got rid of 1000s of DC and Marvel comics over the years.

You know what? The back issue market is the sucks anyway, and the only hope you even have of getting decent money is if the books are in 'mint' or 'near mint' which pretty much means you never even opened them.

Plus, they take up a lot of space. I read 'em, rip out the pics I like to make art with and throw the rest away.

And when I see back issues in a dollar bin, I buy them.

Cos is the one directly behind Superboy. The nearly naked one. The one in the costume the Village People would have rejected as being ‘too flamboyant'. Grell liked nearly naked muscle boys.

Do you think you could make the comic scans a little bigger, maybe? They're hard to read.

That was great, Max. If I ever find a complete chronological torrent of all the legion comics, I'll let you know. At least you will be able to read the stuff again, even if it's on a computer screen.

Are you paid by the number of times you post directly after I do?

They mention Prez in that "DC Encyclopedia" that came out about a year ago. I bring this up because I've devoloped an unnatural obsession with the character, and rather than actually find the mini-series or anything, I'm waiting in vain for a column about him.

Mister Burbank is either the bravest man ever known for sticking with Legion for that long and trying to keep everything straight, or just a stubborn fool. Either way, the piece was good.

I'd be honored if you throw it to me as well, after reading this article I'm half tempted to read all of them I don't have in Archive Hardcover (yeah, I collect the old Legion stories in hardcover when I find them cheap enough). Excellent article, Burbank, and you're indeed hardcore. I feel the same way about the X-Men that you do about the Legion: good times until you find out they're going to wrap up all the fucking loose ends as an aside in a meaningless issue before they go off to fight another crossover where all the issues are holographic and cost about six times as much as they usually would and....MY BRAIN!!

So yeah, good article. You ever think about doing the Doom Patrol (the old one, not the Morrison-HUH era)?

Great job, even though I was never really one for superhero comics.

Imagine hunting back issues, when not only is the comic out-of-print, but it's an obscure cult comic.

Thank you all. ard is this may be to believe, the old Doom Patrol is a huge whole in my comics education, as is Challengers of the Unknown.

The X-men is the only comic I have followed through it's entirety, even longer thn the Legion. Should the ever compeletly scrap continuity and just start from scratch, I'll dump them to, but really they'll never need to since they seem content to run about eight different paralell continuities side by side.

Hmmm. Paralell continuity (marvel) Vs. Reboots (DC). I smell fodder.

I guess I'm just cursed when it comes to these things. I spend hours a week combing the back-issue dungeon in my local, shitty comic shop, hoping to find at least ONE issue of Tank girl, Flaming Carrot, or even a tattered remnant of a Sam & Max comic.

No luck, I've only found one thing at that hell-hole I'm happy with (some old horror comic titled "Panorama Of Hell."). When I finally give up looking for the day, the only thing that I see are the jeering stares of the fat, pink basement-boys and carrot haired, stringy swing choir presidents.

Thank god for Amazon.com.

I either have to learn how to use bit torrent or get a cute little personal intern to do my bit torrent bidding for me.

Actually, you have to be a way more succseful freelancer than me before you get even an ugly huge personal assistant.

Thanks Helm!

And Burbank, just find either Torrentstorm (if it still exists) or BitTornado and enjoy. You won't regret, it's pretty much install and forget about software.
