Okay so I bought PS2 for my daughter and I and It's the one with the online thing.

Do I need to pay a monthly fee? has anybody tried this and is it worth it or will I be playing with people that will kick my ass so much it's no fun.

Socom and Socom 2. should I buy the first one or wait and buy 2 for the online thing.

Games you recommend...for adults and kids would be great too...

There's no monthly fee. And Socom2 might not be to fun for your daughter, but you might enjoy it. :/ And playing online is worth it, when you get to talk to the people your playing against. 'Cause it's kinda stupid when your playing against somebody online but you can't talk shit.

Unlike XBox Live, there are no monthly or yearly fees for the actual internet usage. However, some games, like Everquest and the upcoming Final Fantasy XI, will require specific monthly fees. But those are online-only games, and most other games will continue to be free to play online.

Get SOCOM 2. It's a very fun game, and the voice communication is great fun. Single Player is really great, although incredibly hard at times. Multiplayer is probably the most fun you'll have playing a game online for a long time to come.

It's legal. The way it works is it's not Xbox LIVE for free, it just broadens your system link capabilities. Games like Halo can be played online. Basically it tricks your Xbox into thinking your computer is another Xbox, and then connects you over a server to other people doing the same thing. So really you just system link online.
