Old Nov 6th, 2003, 07:52 PM        Problems with Word
Word quit working in a big way on my mom's computer, with Windows 98, the other day. Now, whenever you try to load it, the computer locks up and says that it's dangerously low on resources. I can't even run Word in safe mode.

I tried reinstalling it, and uninstalling and installing it again, but nothing has worked. Anyone have an answer?

How much free space is on the hard drive? Windows likes a big chunk of empty space for it's swap file, so I'm thinking that might be the problem.

Never.

And there's 2.25 Gb of free space left.

Win98? Which version of Word or Office is it? Was it updated at all or anything recently?

It's Word 2000, and to my knowledge, it hasn't been updated at all.

I had a problem similar to this a few years back and turned out that a virus had caused the problem.

Same Here.

I think the REAL problem is that you are using windows 98.

That's a strange one, Doc. Have you actually checked for viruses yet with updated virus definitions?

Sounds more like a Windows problem. When I had trouble like that I'd usually just format. :/
