Old Nov 11th, 2003, 11:46 PM        A couple of MiniDisc questions...
1) Are only MD players with NetMD technology capable of downloading music stored in computer hard drives, or can non-NetMD players download PC HD stored songs as well?

2) Is it true that songs in any audio format (MP3, .wav, WMA, etc.) are automatically converted into the ATRAC3 format when attempting to upload songs into a MD?

3) Can anyone give me an estimate on how many .wav songs (that average 4 mins) can be fitted into a blank minidisc?

...I should probably just save up for an iPOD, huh?

Mini Disc is shit. I had the S2 or G2 or whatever (the white sports one) and I took it back. The sound quality is SHIT, the software is TERRIBLE (you have to "check in" and "check out" songs ??????????????????????) and its just plain inconvienent.

If you really need to listen to 400 songs in a row, then burn them on a CD and buy a cheap ass MP3 cd player for like 60 bucks. Same effect, 5 times cheaper.

AND THAT'S THE TOOTH.

Edit: I guess I should answer your questions

1)YES
2)YES
3) 50 in CD quality, around 80-120 in Shit(tier) quality.

You see, the thing is, C:, is that I only want the best as far as sound quality goes, and .wav is the format that is the top of the line, no? I don't remember where I read this, but supposedly the iPOD supports the .wav format, and if that's true, then that's the way for me to go.

Of course, I'd have to wait for a significant drop in price to occur first, before I bother getting one.

Isn't .wav hardware dependant? :o?

My MD was fine for the while i had it and used it.

Though iPOD is 1000x times the awesome, you cant really compare it to anything.

What type of music are you planning to play on it?

When you listen to Classical, sound quality and definition is of utmost importance, but really, if you're listening to hip-hop who cares if its 96 kbps or 196?

Also, what quality are your WAV files already encoded?
