Old Jun 7th, 2005, 03:43 PM        movies that scared you as a kid
Every Disney movie ever made ever - Seriously, what the fuck? These movies are for kids and I found them to be more horrifying than any slasher. Some noteworthy ones: Bambi ( scared me the most ), Fantasia ( that big fucking devil thing gave me nightmares ), Pinochio ( the jackass scene scared me ), Dumbo ( when his mom got tortured :'( ), Beauty and The Beast ( the beast ), Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs ( that witch lady ) and probably more.

Evil Dead - Ok the 2nd one didnt scare me at all as a kid ( save for maybe the part where his girlfriend is headless and runs around ), but the first one scared me pretty damn good. Particularly the scene where Ash puts his thumbs into the guy's eyes and plucks em out.

Legend - EVERYTHING about this movie was creepy. From the big satan guy to the little fairy people's voices.

The first two movies I saw as a kid that scared the everloving bejesus out of me were the Exorcist, and the less-known yet still-fun-in-a-campy way Night Of The Demons.

Night of the Demons was my first horror movie, and I think it made me cry haha.

I would have to say Watership Down.

I used to watch it all the time when I was 5 or 6 and now when I watch it now I wonder why the crap my parents let me watch it in the first place.

I mean look at this screen shots from The movie
Here's Bigwig defending his burrow from the Eviiiiiiil General Woundwort.

Jaws scares me too.

Oh man, that little Malcolm in the Middle creature was way scarier than Darkness. I should watch that movie again.

As far as movies that shouldn't have been scary but were, nothing terrified me more than the flying monkeys in the wizard of oz.

Halloween.

Every night for three or four weeks after I saw that movie I'd just have the theme stuck in my head, and the more I tried not to think about it the harder it got lodged in my memory. It was just that intro with the credits over the pumpkin that scared me.

I was also scared of David Bowie in the Labyrinth. The Labyrinth and that fucking Ashes to Ashes video gave me a David Bowie phobia until I was 12 or something.

The Little Mermaid. When the Sea Witch turned into the girl and hypnotized the guy and she had no pupils, but pale yellow orbs for eyes, I was terrified.

Another one that scared me was Jurassic Park. I went to see it in theaters when it first came out, and I had to leave when Genarro got eaten off the toilet.

The first movie that made me stay awake all night was The Shining. It was so goddamn scary that I didnt even want to watch it, but I was so scared that I couldnt turn off the TV. I think I was 6 or 7 at the time.

In American Tail (the first one, not Goes West), that big-ass robot mouse scared the living daylights out of me.

Oh yeah, and I used to have nightmares that Rolf from the muppets would eat me. So I kinda shiver when I see him now. Being unsettled by a muppet, seriously. :/

When I was real young like 5 or so The Shining scared the shit out of me and gave me nightmares. There were two scenes that I had nightmares about 1. The twins 2. The ghost in the bathtub. All work and no play make Jack a dull boy.

The Shining was the first movie that ever scared me so much that I was afraid to leave my seat..I think I was about 6 when I saw it.

Before that, the only movie that scared the shit right outta me was Who Framed Roger Rabbit? When near the end, that guy's eyes are popping out and he's talking in a really shrill voice

Thriller scared Hickman, too. And he was scared by PeeWee's Big Adventure when Large Marge's face went all "BLOOHAAHAHAHAHAHA!"

I remember one scene that particularly freaked me out was the end of Superman III where the woman gets yanked into the computer and turned into a robot.
