It's been a trend for many authors ... especially of mystery/detective novels ... to stick by a single character and develop them through a series of novels. Who are some of your favorites and why? Give a short list, provide some links, ect ... live it up! Here's my short list:

1. Phillip Marlowe by Raymond Chandler

2. Parker by Richard Stark (pen name of Donald E. Westlake)

3. Spenser by Robert B. Parker

4. Bernie Rhodenbarr by Lawrence Block

5. Repairman Jack by F. Paul Wilson

Jack Ryan and John Clark by Tom Clancy. I see them as the same man gone down two different paths to end up on the same side.
