I heard Thyrfing a year or two agao, and at the time i thought they sounded like some amateur power metal, but it seems like i either heard a mislabeled MP3 or heard some really misleading demo tape. I grabbed this out of some random collection on soulseek on a whim, and i'm blown away. I wonder why this band isn't talked about more? It's Swedish black metal so there's a hint of an old school sound in the vocals, but this band pulls off a more symphonic, classical sound, but not in the overdone sense that some other bands may pull. At points the vocals
will remind you of In Flames, but don't let that turn you off. It all sounds so unique, and these guys make it seem so easy. My favorite track on the album is The Giant's Laughter, which features
vocal harmonies, something i rarely catch in any BM these days. This song is fantastic to listen to, but my favorite part is hearing the doubled over vocals on the line "The flower has withered". I know that doesn't mean a lot to anyone else yet, but just listen to the song and you'll get what i'm talking about.
