I liked it. I think unnecessary is a good way to describe it but I wouldn't say unfunny. It's really funny in small doses but it's purposeful lack of coherence is difficult to tolerate after a certain amount of time.

Last movie I saw was Mamma Mia. Five months ago I never would have predicted that I would prefer Mammia Mia to the new X-Files movie but whaddayaknow. Batman and Wall-e still lead the summer movie pack but gosh, there is something infectious about five year old kids having such fun to ABBA songs.*

Last movie I saw on dvd was Gone Baby Gone, the movie Ben Affleck directed last year. That was also surprisingly good, although not perfect. I'm not a fan of that awful device in movies where the big revelation is told in flashbacks to an earlier part of the movie, but from a different angle that reveals something you didn't notice. It needs to stop. I also object to Morgan Freeman being the go-to guy for wise old black men and am angered more with every movie how, even his villain is the same character as his good guy. Versatility is not that guy's forte.

* I am an ABBA fan by the way.

i thought it had as much funny as maybe two of the medium-good episodes? but unfortunately it's stretched out to whatever length it is rather than being a half hour

i just watched hellboy II and enjoyed it. i very much like the first one and this one was no different; maybe more action, but still a wonderful blend of action/drama/comedy. and goddamn are the special effects nice. i love the fact that there are probably more props and guys-in-suits than CGI

True. And it was so LONG.

It reminded me of one of those wacky 70s sitcoms where there'd be a knock on the door and it'd be ANOTHER GUEST STAR!

this is aqua teen hunger force we're talking about... when does anything seem necessary? it's not like plot actually drives the series what-so-ever

Forgetting Sarah Marshall - Really enjoyed this film. Lots of laughs and a good romance story. Best rom-com I've seen in a long time.

Doomsday - Urgh, stupid rubbish shit. Watch Outpost instead.

Felon - Really good film. If you get a chance to check this out on DVD go for it. You won't be disappointed.

Watching Nake Gun 33 1/3. 14 years is a lot of time, O.J. and Anna Nicole Smith both had significant parts in it. Now....well, you know.

Wizard of Gore (2008) - It was pretty good, but then again I have a strange fixation with Crispin Glover.

Just saw Ocean's Thirteen, didn't have Julia Roberts in it, camera work wasn't quite as good as I've seen in the past two movies, but the sense of style and the score in combination with the quality of the acting make it a very good movie.

Also, Ocean's Twelve was so sophisticated and artsy, I kind of expected that instead of another casino gig.

Finally watched Step Brothers. It's okay. The 1040EZ scene did make me laugh my ass off, though.

Just watched Jack Ketchum's The Lost. Pretty fucked up. Seeing as how the only other Jack Ketchum work I've seen is "The Girl Next Door," I'm gonna have to conclude that he is one messed up man. Both pretty good horror/thriller movies but I don't know what his novels that they were based on are like.

I watched 300 for the first time ever. I am the only person I know who hasn't seen it until now. And I have to say when you put the catch phrases in context it's not as awesome as in the trailers. The whole "wall of corpses" idea is pretty nifty when it comes to ancient world military tactics, but what of the sanitation? And Gerard Butler played The Phantom of the Opera in a sissy movie musical before he got his big break with this, so it was hard for me to take him seriously.

I found the whole "war solves all problems" angle a bit jingoistic, but I liked the whole bardic tale of valour mode of telling the story, since I'm a fantasy/mythology fan.

Why don't they make soundtracks like these anymore?
