Old Jan 24th, 2004, 10:33 PM        Odd Computer Problem - Help Needed
To sum it up, Internet Explorer won't remember to keep the status toolbar on my browser windows (after I close and reopen IE, or open a new window sometimes), and my folder for my SNES roms keeps reverting back to Icon view and arranged by alphabetical order (as opposed to List view, and sorted by file type).

They seem to be related to one another, but for the life of me, I don't know how or why. It's furstrating the hell out of me. Help please?

It's a bug with IE. The folder thing can be fixed in your Folder Options thingy. I think.

I tried. It didn't work.

It JUST started happening out of the blue, though. And it's just that one folder. And visiting that one folder causes the status bar to disappear in IE.

If I had a dollar for every time somebody said that to me when I worked tech support. It always does.

I came across this though:

If your registry setting is fine then it's probably some corruption in IE that's gonna require a reinstall, upgrade, or format.

When I say it just started happening out of the blue, I mean I hadn't done anything different, let alone anything that I could think of that would be associated with the problem. If something different happened with my computer to cause this, it wasn't necessarily of my doing.

That tip thing isn't working. Here's what happens:

-I open up my ZSNES folder, and the view is automatically set to Icons, and the items are arranged only by name.
-If I close that folder (regardless of if I changed the view back or not), when I open up IE, the status bar is missing. I have to re-add it.
-If I close IE (regardless of if I re-add the status bar or not), if I changed the view back for the ZSNES folder, the view changes back to Icons and arranged by name only.

It's fucking annoying.

Now, here's something that REALLY confuses the fuck out of me. I made a new folder, and named it "ZSNES2." I copied all the files into that folder, and deleted my ZSNES folder. Check everything, and the problem is gone. I rename the folder to "ZSNES," and the problem returns. Rename it back to "ZSNES2," the problem is gone.

What in the bloody fuck?

I find your lack of Windows registry knowledge disturbing.
