My dad sent me this DVD a while ago, and we finally got around to watching it today.

Very awesome movie so far, and it's pretty hilarious in some spots. The village idiot is very random.

i guessing you are talking about the one made in 2003.
yeah that dude running around is pretty funny. the action was pretty good and i think it held up pretty good with all the other zatoichi movies, though katsu Shintaro is the man and will always be ichi in my eyes.

The only thing I didn't like about the film was the CGI swords.

Yeah, they didn't do a very good job of making it look real, but it all happens so fast that it's not too big of a deal.
One of my favorite action flicks. On my must-own list.
