There's two possible outcomes.

"It's a masterpiece. If you don't like it you should kill yourself"

"It sucks, if you like it, you should kill yourself"

I enjoyed it quite a bit. Totally depends on your reaction to other Egoyan films, because if you hated Exotica or Sweet Hereafter you will definitely not like those. But, if you enjoyed all his work, including Felicia's Journey and the such, then this is a film to seek out.

She's not in this film, so how gives a shit. And she was really good in Exotica, despite the fact she may be a dumb ass in real life.

I think "Ararat" is Egoyan's most intellectually rich work. That being said, so many ideas are present in the movie (one could write volumes, and I'll get back to some of them later) that some of the plot threads don't feel like they've been explored fully. The deleted scenes reveal several additional subplots that didn't make it. It's quite a bit better than "Felicia's Journey".

I've seen enough of his work to know it is boring. I would rather watch Hard Core logo ten times than watch Any Egoyan film.

Ah, so you've seen it! Ok, well, yeah, it definitely has lots of great textures to it, and is intellectually rich, but I disagree it's his most. The Sweet Hereafter is his masterpeice, and despite the fact the Pipe Piper sidestory may have undermined it slighty, is an emotionally breathtaking film.

"Sweet Hereafter" is his best, yes, partly because Egoyan was able to "control" it. I also liked it's mood the best, out of his movies I've seen. "Ararat" on the other hand, I felt like it was going to explode, it had so much going on. But whatever, Egoyan rocks my world.
