Old Jan 28th, 2004, 03:51 PM        finally: some new photos

15 new photos are now up and running on the site after much delay and hand wringing. these here are taken when i went up north in california out into some of the best (and more hidden) national parks. it was also around that time that i decided to be heavier into music than i normally am. so every where i went there was something playing in my head that made look at everything rather.. cinematic... 150 pictures later, these are the 15 that are the best from all of this. now, these photos stand up on their own quite well, i wouldnt put it out if it couldnt, but not only that, i happen to be very proud of it as well... but if you ever happen to have heard the music of Boards of Canada, it'll enhance it immensely.

enjoy and comment please

and one of these photos is what i think is the best i have EVER taken...

absolutely loverly, rez.

i'm so happy to see some nice traditional snaps from you. the ones that i saw before, i admittedly didn't like all that much. i liked your manips better, but this proves that you have the skills to capture nature without being trapped in conservative landscape shots.

the texture of all them is my favorite. are these digital shots? i'm looking into purchasing a new dSLR. i was just wondering what you shot these with.

the only criticism that i have is that a few of the shots look a little flat. the one that sticks out most in my head with this problem is the shot with the tall, looming trees. it could be just my monitor calibration, though. it's so hard to tell when seeing them on the screen.

anyways, i like a lot. keep up the good work. i might have to pick up that cd that inspired you so much.

all i used was a 35 mm camera and film, i forget if it was black and white or color (but it's black and white now)... and used scanner settings to scan it how i want (for contrast, mainly)

problem is, this was done 6 months ago, and since i'm disorganized as hell i cant find the prints...

what i'm doing now is on an olympus digital camers which might see light but i'm not sure yet... mainly color and light based without true shape.. yet... i dunno, we'll see.
