Alright, so I just got a pair of Mixers that apparently have an XLR output on them. My only question is, will I need to get amps with the same XLR, and then use a male-to-male, or is there an easier way I can change it around? Could I take a cable that's an XLR cable on one side and a 1/4" on the other, and then use any old amp?

Tell me if this made any sense.

And these're my babies :D

Yes, but if your amp hasn't got XLR inputs, it's likely shit.

Or a guitar amp, which is what he was probably talking about.

But seriously, dude. Save for a PA amp. Everyone will laugh at you if you're seen in public using a guitar amp to DJ with. And it'll sound like crap.

And it won't be male to male. XLR connections are always male to female.

Looks like you're using that for a mobile disco or something?

It's true that most P.A. amps (Or self powered speakers) should take their feed from XLR, and it's guitar cabs that take 1/4" - you shouldn't really use guitar cabs for playing CDs, it'll sound terrible.

You can buy (or make up) XLR sex changers, but most kit outputs on male XLR plugs if I'm not mistaken. What sort of amps/P.A. are you using?
