I saw Cake at Lollapalooza not long ago and they got pissed off after 3 songs because the crowd wasn't getting into it and they left.

I like their remake of Guitar Man though. Are they a tribute to Bread or what?

The only CAKE songs I don't like are the real popular ones. I love the speak-sing vocals, and everything about them rocks..

I can't really imagine a crowd 'getting into' Cake. I mean really what did they expect?

Well, they would sing a line and then like say "Ok now everyone sing along" or some shit like that. And nobody sang along. We all just stood there looking dumbfounded.

maybe it's because they were from sacramento and seemed to embody and embrace the same mediocrity that city shamelessly touts and avoids.

but i just hate them.
