NOTHING
TO LOSE

MY REVIEW OF "NOTHING TO LOSE"
Finally, the movie I have been waiting to see has come out.... and it didn't let
me down. Nothing To Lose, written and directed by comedic genius STEVE
OEDEKERK,
had me not only laughing out loud, but annoying the entire audience with my pals as well.
As soon as the annoying previews ended, I began to sweat with anxiousness....then it
happened. The words "Directed by: STEVE OEDEKERK" came on the screen and we let
all of our harmonious joy out. Yelling and cheering his name, clapping our hands, barely
able to even sit down in our seats, we were proud to be in the front rows and viewing the
sneak preview of Oedekerk's new masterpiece: NOTHING TO LOSE!
From the very beginning where Tim Robbins is staring at us directly and talking as if
he's "disgusted with us" and "doesn't find us attractive anymore",
Oedekerk teases us with more of that classic HARSH REALITY that showed itself in the #1
Movie of all time: HIGH STRUNG!!! Steve already proved himself to
be the master of relationship problems in High Strung when he went on a HUGE rant about
how people just get USED, and he does the same in much of this movie. For example, at one
point Tim Robbins' character tries to deny that his wife cheated on him, and Martin
Lawrence starts teasing the hell out of him saying things like "Oh, what, is she
monogamously challenged?!?!? hahahaha!!!" Ya gotta love it...
Still, erase the entire plot of the movie from your head. For there is one scene in the
movie that makes it worth paying all the money in yer bank account to see (and for us,
that was about 6 bux). I'm refering to the scene where God himself, er...Steve Oedekerk,
makes a rare appearance! Steve plays a hillarious security guard, "Security Guard
Baxter", who can twirl his flashlight like jackie chan can twirl a ladder! His
uniform is goofy as hell and Baxter has something he's been wanting to let out for a
while. HIS MUSICAL SIDE! So, he finds a radio alarm clock and turns on the radio and
begins to dance like a madman. Holding his flashlight as if it were a mic, he fakes the
emotions better than most people do when they're REALLY singing. He's got better moves
than Travolta ever dreamed of. By this point we were gasping for breath due to our
laughing so hard. The movie was now OFFICIALLY a success.
Besides Security Guard Baxter, the entire movie is filled with hilarious antics and
adventures. One of my personal favorite scenes is when Robbins and Lawrence rob a store
and they hold up an old man and scare him. But Robbins isn't as good at scaring him as
Lawrence is. So he discusses what he should do to improve his intimidation factor with the
old man and then tries it out on the next customer that comes in. Trying to imitate Martin
Lawrence, he comes out sounding very "white" and it's hilarious as can be.
Martin Lawrence and Tim Robbins make an EXCELLENT duo. And for that matter, NOTHING TO
LOSE MAKES AN EXCELLENT MOVIE FOR EVERYBODY TO GO SEE RIGHT NOW!
Enjoy the movie!!
