The ART of GWAR - February 18, 2006

There is only one band that can truly be considered the pride of Richmond, Virginia. No, not Firehouse... I'm talking about GWAR! While most people are used to seeing GWAR up on stage for about 5 seconds just before they're blinded with streams of fake blood (and a variety of other bodily fluids), I recently had the opportunity to check out their art show at Artspace. Their art, or "GWART" as I prefer to call it, is the antithesis of what you'd see at your typical wine 'n cheese gallery showing. No bowls of fruit, no mountain landscapes... just 100% pure unfiltered GWAR.

For those of you who weren't able to catch the GWAR gallery showings in person, I'm happy to share with you this collection of photos I took at their art show.

"Recent excavations into the lower levels have unearthed many ancient "GWAR-TIFACTS" of cosmic import and cunning design. The slaves of GWAR have decided to exhibit these objects in hopes of achieving "ART FAG" status and possibly selling things for ludicrous sums of money."
