Title: Kenseiden
Author:Sega
Rom Player: FreezeSMS
Reviewer: Shane Skekel

Synopsis: It's surprising that there aren't more people writing reviews for the Sega Master System's games let alone the TG-16 ("PC engine" sounds fruity) and the Neo Geo. This SMS game takes place in ancient Japan, compared to Ninja Gaiden and Double Dragon at that time. The gameplay is what makes this game shine; the controls are very fluid when compared to this game's rival, Castlevania, and you have sword techniques that you get by beating bosses. Be warned that some of these foes are hard as hell and if you're not careful, you can get killed. The graphics are very detailed and produce a feeling that something isn't right in this neck of the woods. The music is great when compared to other SMS games, they managed to use the full power of the system's sound chip. The sound effects could use a little work, but this is what a unique game this was at this time.

Many people often mistake this as a CV clone, but this is NOT a Castlevania knock-off. Besides, this game should be one of those games put on the GBA as well as Wonder Boy and Alex Kidd. Overall, if you are tired of CV and are looking for an alternative, then Kenseiden is just what the doctor ordered.
