Title: Blood Storm

Synopsis: Have you ever known a game that you may have heard about in a gaming magazine but pushed out of your mind when you never actually found it in arcades? Blood Storm is one of those games.
Blood Storm is the sequel to Time Killers. It doesn't say that anywhere in the title, nor do any of the playable characters in the game resemble those from TK, but it is almost certainly a sequel. It is also one of the goriest and innovative games of its time.
Game Play - 8: It uses Front and Back Arm/Leg buttons and a Block button. As you have probably already guessed, I hate that kind of arrangement. An excellent example of how it should be done can be found in TimeSlaughter, which I need to find a copy of (if anyone out there knows where I can download it (the full game was freeware until the website was taken down for unexplained reasons), please email the url or the game to me). The Weak, Medium, and Strong Punch/Kick system in Time Slaughter and the Street Fighter series is really the only way to go. This game loses a couple points as a result of the crappy controls. The game itself has some interesting features, such as one hell of a lot of secrets, weapons that can be acquired MegaMan style after battles, secret enemies, and five bazillion cheats. It takes some time to get bored with this game (but you will get tired of it eventually).
Graphics - 6: Despite having original and relatively well animated characters (when compared to those from the Mortal Kombat series), they still look ridiculous. That's all I'm going to say about that.
Music - 5: I didn't even notice the music in this game. It could be good, or it could be bad...I didn't really care.
Originality - 9: It's more original than Mortal Kombat 2 (at least THIS sequel wasn't more of the same) and Street Fighter 2 Ultra Super Duper Hyper 3r33t Whatever (I lost interest in that series after I played the original and beat it; the endings and stories for some of the more recent versions are absolutely ridiculous).
Overall Rating - 7: It could have been better. I would have liked to have seen more science fiction elements and outright gore. Seriously, what's the point of making a gory fighting game if you're going to skimp on the gore?
I recommend this game for anyone who is interested in a change of pace from Mortal Kombat or Street Fighter. However, I think that TimeSlaughter (not TimeKillers) is the best fighting game you can find anywhere. And it is free. If you can find it.
