Synopsis: I used to play this game in 1983. But once I asked my dad for a quarter so I could play it and he had a fit. What was his problem?
On screen one Olive throws twenty-four hearts. They fall down the screen until they get in the lake at the bottom. You must catch the hearts before they reach the lake. If they stay in the lake too long, they'll crack and you'll lose a life. When you catch all twenty-four hearts, you clear the screen.
On screen two Olive throws sixteen music notes. Catch them before they reach the lake at the bottom to clear the screen.
On screen three Olive throws the letters H-E-L-P. She throws each letter six times. Catch them before they reach the lake at the bottom to clear the screen. On this screen you must watch out for the Seahag's vulture. Punch him or simply touch him when you eat your spinach.
Eat your spinach and whoop Brutus. When you whoop him, he falls in the lake and you earn three thousand points. You get one can of spinach per screen.
On screen one you can knock a barrel over Brutus's head and render him harmless for several seconds. Watch out! If Brutus is on the platform below you, he can jump and smack you. If he's on the platform above you, he can reach down and smack you or pounce down on you. If he's on the same platform that you're on, he throws bottles at you. The Seahag also appears from time to time and throws bottles at you. Punch the bottles.
I loved the arcade Popeye but I hated the crappy Atari 2600 version. I give the arcade Popeye a nine.
