Title: Operation - Logic Bomb
Author:Jaleco
Rom Player: ZSNES
Reviewer: Dr. Boogie

Synopsis: Why do scientists always seem to get killed by robots and aliens when they’re researching them? That’s not proper lab safety. In the game, you play a cyborg commando who has been sent to a lab because something has gone wrong and you need to figure out what. Fortunately, you’ve been equipped with a machine gun and a spread gun just in case the problem has to do with aliens and/or robots. Right away, you can tell something is wrong because parts of the floor are covered with weird flashing green hexagons on a black background. From those trippy floor sections, odd robots start appearing and shooting at you. As you progress, you find and examine recordings from security cameras that sort of explain what happened. You quickly find out that some sort of interdimensional crab robots have come the lab and force the scientists to make some kind of weird generators that cause all the hexagon floor stuff. Thus, destroying the generators is your goal. For the most part, the robots are pretty easy to dodge, as the bulk of the mysterious robot army consists of enemies that, like you, can only shoot in eight directions. On occasion, you will have to deal with one of the crab robots in order to destroy a generator. As you progress, you find weapons like a reflecting laser and a flamethrower and tools like a hologram device and mines that explode in the direction you tell them, that you use to overcome some puzzle-like obstacles, but mostly for combat purposes. The sound effects are ok, but some of the explosions are bizarre and the squawking of the robocrabs maintains that level of strangeness. The music is pretty nondescript electronic stuff, with some creepy music when showing a recording. Some of the later boss battles get tricky, but his is a fun shooter, especially if you like blowing up robot crustaceans.
