Title: Metal Slug
Author:Neo Geo
Rom Player: MAME
Reviewer: Warren G

Synopsis: Somehow no one has written a review of this glorious, glorious title yet, so I must spread the good word. In Metal Slug, an amazingly accurate war documentary game that depicts the timeless struggle of you versus about one billion other people, you are given the task of slaughtering countless green guys, all in the name of a high score. There might have been a story, actually, but damned if I'm gonna stick around to find out what it was.

Metal Slug does a vast number of things right, starting with the graphics. It's simply amazing that the hardware was capable of displaying that much detail at once without even a hint of slowdown, and if you don't demonstrate your appreciation properly, the game takes your soul.

So, after you marvel at its beauty and tell the game you love it, you might be asking, "So, Warren, how's it play?" It plays superlatively, ladies. It's like Contra on high grade crack cocaine that's completely free of side effects. You can get a kick ass machine gun that allows you to tear your way through the Green Man Army, or you can opt for the far more badass method of running in really close and stabbing them, an option that will garner you the attention of countless women. The bosses are huge and creative, and you get to drive a tank at several points in the game.

It's also worth mentioning that this is among the more difficult games in human history. It took six bucks, easy, to beat this game in the arcade, and this was back in the day of twenty five cents to play, so that's definitely a lot. But, anyway, find it and play it. It's a work of art and worthy of your attention.
