Title: Sonic & Knuckles (2nd Review)
Author:Sega

Synopsis: I played Sonic and knuckles years ago, when Nintendo and Sega were duking it out for more fans. Sonic and Knuckles, in my opinion, is one of the better of the Sonic games. Their were a lot of good qualities to it, and one that stood out as one of the most original is its feature.
You see, there was an fixture on top of the cartridge in which you could put Sonic 3 or 2 on top. When you did, you could play THOSE games as knuckles, the other guy in the game. Knuckles didn’t appear in those game by themselves, but this little doozy made that a thing in the past. Think about it. Climbing through walls in the casino zone, or, in the aquatic hills zone etc. For those who aren't too familiar with Knuckles, Knuckles made Sonic his bitch for a lot of reasons. For one if you jumped off the air and held down a particular button, Knuckles can glide for a short period of time. He can also climb walls, in which Sonic couldn’t. Not to mention Knuckles did all the same moves as Sonic, so Sonic had no real advantages. It was damn cool. And I gotta say, Nintendo made better products, but with the game character port system Sega released at the time, Sega got points. I was surprised too, because you would think that Nintendo would copy their idea with the Mario games, but nope. Oh well.
Anyway, lets talk story. I haven't played this game for a while, yet I remember if you played Sonic, Knuckles and Robuttnik made a unholy alliance, and the twosome would try to stop you every now and then throughout the game. I'm assuming that Robotnik is trying to destroy the world, since he's pretty retarded in which he never comes up with original ideas, not to mention he drives a machine egg. However, if you play as Knuckles, you have to stop Robuttnik in place of Sonic. Sorry, but Sonic and Robotnik don't team up this time. Then again, it wouldn't make sense.
There were new features to the game as well. When you wanted to collect the Chaos Emeralds, you would play in a 3d sort of game. What would happen is whoever you’re playing, Sonic or Knuckles, the guy will run nonstop in order to collect the blue orbs in the game. If you accidentally collect a red orb, the game is over. And when you touch a blue orb, its color turns red. Keep in mind you can't stop your character from running, so it’s much harder than it looks, or sounds. Also the further you get, the faster he runs, so it gets harder. And while were on the subject, Sonic and Knuckles abilities are equal, so don’t expect a difference in play with sonic or knuckles in this mini game.
The levels were cool too. For example, in the first level, you were in a forest in which you could bounce off giant mushrooms, and swing off swings and such. And in the second level, you’re on an airplane, and in the 3rd your in a pyramid. I don’t remember the rest of ‘em except the last one, where your in this complex that looks like an oil rig thing. But hey, if I made it this far, I must of liked the levels in the middle of the game right?
I gave originality a low score because the plot was just as simple as the other ones. But that game character port technology, I have to admit, was very clever. I always wanted to play Knuckles in Sonic 2 and 3, but I got the chance with this little gem.(keep in mind, you cant play sonic 1 with it.) I used to remember the kids I used to hang with at school loved the idea too. We used to think we could put other games on Sonic and Knuckles, but sorry. I remember the frustration I had when I tried to play Splatterhouse 3 with Knuckles. As retarded as it sounds, it would of looked cool to see echidna brains all over the floor. But no. Just innocent Sonic games. This is definitely the game to buy if you have a working genesis, but I highly recommend it if you have Sonic two or 3 only.
