Title: Contra Spirits
Author:Konami
Rom Player: ZSNES
Reviewer: Shane Skekel

Synopsis: Now this is one game definitely worth picking up at Game Trader. I've also played the American version (Contra 3: The Alien Wars), but this version is a whole lot better then the one we got. This game follows the events of the Japanese versions of Contra and Super Contra (they take place in 2631 instead of the late '80s); Red Falcon has recuperated and he's on his usual killing sprees, but it's up to our heroes to kick his ass again.
Yes, I know that sums up the story, but this is an action game god damn it!

Game play: So what if it plays like the first two games; it has some things that eventually were included in Hard Cops and Shattered Soldier. These new additions include the hover bike, the ability to carry multiple weapons, and some enhancements to the overhead levels. Plus, there's infinite continues and cheat codes that add to the overall experience.

Graphics: Pretty revolutionary when it came to the eye candy, therefore it shows what Konami was capable of doing at the time. If you also want to see their other 16-bit masterpieces then check out Super Castlevania 4, Castlevania Bloodlines, Contra Hard Cops, Gradius 2 (TG-CD) & 3 (arcade), and Axelay.

Music & Sound: Some of the best tunes on the Super NES, and the sound effects aren't half bad either.

Originality: It had a lot of innovation, especially when compared with the recent Contra: Shattered Soldier (Which suffers from being too much of the same, I might add.).

In other words, this game is one game worth your time. If you liked this then check out Taito's Darius Twin; it also kicks ass.

Best Cheats: Head to www.gamewinners.com if you want the cheats to this classic.
