Synopsis: When it comes to classic arcade games, it's hard to leave this baby out of any conversation. Released in 1981, Galaga has continued to be a common ground for all old school gamers. It takes on a similar format that was 1st introduced by Space Invaders, where by as you are the commander of a space ship that scrolls from left to right at the bottom of the screen. You must destroy approaching alien/bug ships that try to attack your ship with multiple formations & firing. Plus, as an added bonus, the larger blue/yellow alien ships will come down and capture your fighter with a tractor beam, pulling it above its head & taking it to the top of the screen(making you lose one of your ships). I know it sounds bad, but this can be a good thing(unless that was your last ship) because when you return, you can destroy the alien that took your ship while it's attacking you & get double fire power! However, you must kill it while its attacking and not resting at the top of the screen, otherwise your ship will turn into an enemy. Another intriguing thing about this game are the bonus stages. Not many games offered these at the time & in fact this might be the first. The bonus stage basically just lets you practicing shooting the aliens when they fly across at a rapid rate, without any offensive attack from them what so ever. It also happens pretty much at every 3 levels. As the levels advance, the stakes get higher, with enemies moving at a way faster rate & more kamikaze type aliens. The farthest I've got would be around level 27, which is pretty damn crappy considering I had friends that could make to stage 70-something. Overall, a great damn game that I still look for in every Laundromat I goto.
