Synopsis: Back in my prime gaming days, there was a saturation of character based platformers. We saw an Overweight Italian Plumber (Super Mario) a Hedgehog who could run fast (sonic) a cat with an exclamation mark on his shirt who smiled too much (Bubsy) but NONE of them compares to the Character Known as... Sparkster. He was as fast as sonic (he has a rocket!) and has the same 'I don't give a damn' attitude as Bubsy. Now onto the game. its your standard platformer on the surface. but deep down, it can play like a fast paced shoot ‘em up due to the fact that Sparkster’s sword shoots energy beams like Links did on Zelda. There are many places that had me screaming at the TV due to the sheer fact that Konami's Game formula is 'Fast Gameplay, Sucker punching enemies and quick moving projectiles = FUN!' Now don’t get me wrong, its the cheap shots and certain Precision moves that makes the game a real gem. The bosses in it were at places weak and applauable, while others made you rocket around the screen like there was no tomorrow. All and all, Rocket knight Adventures is a true classic!
Gameplay: This is where the game really shines! Long levels, precise controls, very easy to use scheme and the ability to rocket through enemies and off walls to get hidden items. 10
Graphics: In places, the graphics fit the style of a fast paced cartoon, in others, they were plain and monotonous, 7
Music: The music was a mixture of Happy tra la la music to just plain game music, but was still awesome, 8
Originality: How many games do you see that has a possum with a rocket gutting pigs who ride around in cars/robots/Jet skis with a sword that shoots lasers? 10
Overall: This game defines fast paced platformer gaming, Screw you sonic!
Best Cheats: Cheat? Only pussies cheat. Although the most hardcore gamers would turn on the ULTRA HARD mode (sorry dont know the code.. beat it in hard mode first!)
