Title: Battletoads
Author:Rare & Tradewest
Rom Player: Gens
Reviewer: Shane Skekel
Synopsis: If there is one series that deserves its own collection, then BattleToads is a must even if the turbo tunnels are 99 percent impossible to beat(I managed to get to the third checkpoint before I got wasted). The first two games let you play as Rash or Zitz(Pimple in Battlemaniacs for the Super NES and SMS). The plot is cliche, but that makes it easier to explain: Pimple and Princess Angelica get captured and now it's up to Zitz & Rash to get them back. Now onto the rest of this review:
Game Play: Same as the NES/Game Gear version, but the Genesis controller allows for a separate grab button. Other than that, it's the same as the NES version; it starts out easy for the first two-and-a-half stages, but it kicks into ass-kick gear when you reach the speeder bikes. As I said before, I HAVE NOT gotten past this area of the game, but http://www.classicgaming.com/battletoads/ might help you out.
Graphics: Of the two Genesis Battletoads games, this is the winner overall. The animation is better, the sprites are more polished, and the Giant Walker's sight is top-notch.
Music & Sound: Also a huge step forward for an NES to Genesis port. Just listen to it for yourself.
Originality: Trite Plot and the fact that this is an NES port are the other two flaws that this game has. Not to mention, that the ending in this version from what I've heard sucks.
Overall: If you own a Genesis, Get it! However, Those who already have the NES version should skip this port.
Best Cheats: Try looking up that url I posted if you want help.
