Title: Bosconian
Author:Namco
Rom Player: MAME
Reviewer: Shane Skekel
Synopsis: If there is one game in 1981 that should have joined the ranks of Ms. Pac-Man and Galaga; I wouldchoose Bosconian. What makes Bosconian so special you ask? ONE: It was the first free-roaming video game.
TWO: It was the first game with the search-and-destroy emphasis. Three: It came with front and rear shooting as standard equipment. However, its own innovation(and marketing) killed its chance for sucess in the arcades. What I like about Bosconian
- Original; the people at Namco got off their Pac-man high long enough to create something innovative.
- The Map makes it easier to hunt down enemy space stations due to the game's free-roaming gameplay.
- The voice chip gives the game some more identity from other games Namco had made at that time.
- Decent graphics.
What don't like about the game.
- Confusing at times.
- Beyond the voices, the sound doesn't really stand out.
Conclusion: If you ever find this game; play it A.S.A.P. If you find Namco Museum Volume One for the PS; get it.
